Benedicta Tiwaa Amankwaa, SRC General Secretary aspirant  “Minds are like flowers; they open only when the time is right.” – Stephen Richards People usually disregard the need for open mindedness in our political spheres but it’s about time people understood the importance of having an open mind in these heated times. This year’s election will be one of the promising ones looking at the number of boots on the ground and the involvement of some “political gods”. Maturity should manifest in our politics and the old unscrupulous acts should be avoided completely. Student politics is simmering many cherish and do all sort of things to attain that power but extreme measures should be barred. Run a clean politics, if the people  buy into your ideas you have their votes.   Obuasi campus President, Master Joshua Ntim Gyimah petitions Vice Chancellor on issues affecting students. The petition states "It is with enormous concern that I bring to the notice of your high office the complaints received from students on the Obuasi campus about the block modular system time table used by some departments, the lack of adequate shuttles on campus and the unavailability of a library. The block modular system time table used by some departments precisely the business school on the Obuasi campus has been a problem for some time now. It is very difficult to study when lecturers deliver through bulk means. This tends to put so much pressure on such a student and this may go as far as affecting their academic results. A typical example is student studying financial accounting for five consecutive days in a week and then having to alternate to another course in the same schedule for the next week. There are inadequate shuttles on the Obuasi campus. I agree with both...

POLITICS TODAY: Analyzing the May Polls, Jude, Benedicta, Derek and Delali’s Victory

Image
NB: This analysis is skewed to the polls conducted by the KNUST TigerEye Media in the month of May. We've begun a new semester, and we all know this is a political season. And as one of your trusted media houses, we always take it upon ourselves to help candidates know their chances and the student body as a whole know what others think of their favourite candidates as well. On the 7th of May, 2021, we started an opinion poll on Twitter to know who has a higher chance of winning the upcoming general elections. And the following are the results concerning each position.  For presidency, Jude Sabutey, DSK, Kevin Abban and Michael Abuah were the aspirants on the polls (the rest should pardon us but Twitter allowed just a little space and we selected the top favorable candidates per our discretion not to defame or sideline any candidate). There was a total votes of 1,466. Kevin Abban had 11.9% of the votes, DSK also got 33.7%, and Jude Sabutey won the poll with 35.6%. Michael Ab...
