SRC Busted! Illegality of ISRC Exposed, KSPH Explains

THE ILLEGALITY OF THE INTERIM STUDENTS REPRESENTATIVE ACT, 2020 KNUST Students’ Parliament House (KSPH) as well as the entire student populace has taken notice of an Executive Instrument/Act being circulated on various WhatsApp platforms, purported to contain measures taken by the KNUST SRC to ensure the smooth continuity of student representation, having ended their tenure of office and in consideration of the current pandemic and its accompanying restrictions. We want to first of all state that we understand that the intentions of the SRC in undertaking this act were pure and having the interest of students at the center of it all. We also understand how difficult it must have been for all stakeholders to reach this decision and we appreciate the difficulty the Covid-19 has created. The KNUST SRC electoral commission Chairperson Mr Philip Ofori-Atta has responded to claims by some SRC candidates on him not involving them on the decisions which has been arrived at In his response which arose as a result of what he called “false accusations” on the part of some aspirants, he stated that those candidates should refrain from abusing the office of the electoral commission as it has so much worked hard enough to keep the good repute of the office. He then provided evidence of an online questionnaire he designed to get inputs from the candidates. Speaking to one Presidential candidate, the ECs story was well corroborated exonerating him from the allegations of sole sourcing decision making.

We were not Consulted! Samuel Sesah, others Directs Shots at SRC EC over Public Release

Samuel Sesah  Top SRC presidential candidate in the 2020 KNUST SRC student elections, Samuel Sesah has directed some powerful shots at the SRC electoral Commissioner Philip Ofori-Atta minutes after the EC released a statement giving an update of events concerning the SRC elections According to the candidate, he and his Vice Presidential colleague have not been briefed or whatsoever by the SRC EC and thus the release by the SRC is alien to them as they’ve not been consulted on anything to talk about reaching an agreement. He however went on to call the release by the SRC EC as “Undemocratic”. Samuel Sesah wasn’t the only candidate who felt left out in the decision announced by the SRC EC. Some candidates have also issued statements expressing their displeasure with the turn out of events. This is a developing story, more to come!

SRC EC finally Speaks; Gives Update on the Elections

Philip Ofori-Atta The KNUST SRC Electoral Commissioner Master Philip Ofori-Atta has broke the silence after issuing an emotional response to why he has been silent over the controversy that surround this year’s SRC elections which was disrupted by the Nobel coronavirus. In his Speech, he gave details as to what transpired all this while and the decision taken so far and ended buy thanking all and sundry for their support to him during his tenure. However, it couldn't happen because of Covid-19 and the fact that the university was shut down and students were sent home. University Hall Alumni Donates GH¢ 35,000.00 Worth of PPEs to KCCR and KNUST Hospital

In the wake of the deadly Coronavirus disease, The Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR) and the KNUST hospital have received donations worth Ghc 35,000.00 of Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs)and Sanitary items from the Alumni of the University Hall. The items Donated were part of their contribution towards combating the COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana. Receiving the donated items on behalf of the institution, Prof. Richard Odame Philip, director of the KCCR showed his appreciation and how the center needed PPEs in the fight against the deadly Coronavirus disease. Adding up, the administrator of the the KNUST hospital, Mr Baah Boateng also thanked the fellows for showing up and helping in such hard times and encouraged others to emulate such good works. The items donated were Katanga Encrypted lab coats, nose masks and goggles.

SRC JC Calls on The Legal Affairs to Reconsider the HEADING of the ISRC Act; Power Transfer Expected to be completed on Friday

His Lordship Michael Gyan The KNUST SRC Judicial Chairperson, His Lordship Michael Gyan has issued a statement claiming receipt of the Act signed by the SRC President yesterday In the letter he however called on the Legal Affairs Chairperson, Mr Marcus Boafo to reconsider the heading of the ISRC Act 2020 passed some days ago to clear all possible doubts about the said Act. He then asked all interested parties to the Committee to make their names and details available to the Judicial Secretary to facilitate him overseeing a free and fair election. In an interview with the KNUST TigerEye Media Inc. his Lordship made it known that his office is ready to oversea the transfer of power from the incumbent SRC to the interim committee until the said date that their services will be done.
