PETITION TO ERADICATE THE BLOCK MODULAR SYSTEM OF TIME TABLE, SPEED UP THE PURCHASE OF SHUTTLES AND SPEED UP THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE OBUASI CAMPUS LIBRARY.

Obuasi campus President, Master Joshua Ntim Gyimah petitions Vice Chancellor on issues affecting students. The petition states "It is with enormous concern that I bring to the notice of your high office the complaints received from students on the Obuasi campus about the block modular system time table used by some departments, the lack of adequate shuttles on campus and the unavailability of a library.

The block modular system time table used by some departments precisely the business school on the Obuasi campus has been a problem for some time now. It is very difficult to study when lecturers deliver through bulk means. This tends to put so much pressure on such a student and this may go as far as affecting their academic results. A typical example is student studying financial accounting for five consecutive days in a week and then having to alternate to another course in the same schedule for the next week.

There are inadequate shuttles on the Obuasi campus. I agree with both university authorities and students that owing to the size of campus, it wouldn’t be prudent to have Shuttles running internally. However, we students would be really grateful that owing to the proximity of Hostels to campus, it would be very prudent if Shuttles are provided to convey students from the valid hostel facilities to campus. We hope that regardless of the fact that our campus is new, we will get to enjoy some of the measures that the university puts in place to make academic lives very conducive for students. Hence the provision for the of Shuttles to make life easier for us.

The lack of library on our campus is really affecting our study life here. It’s difficult to identify a place to study when classes are in session due to the inadequate lecture facilities and this has as well-made research very difficult.

We know the university management promised us to better all of the above-mentioned conditions but the silence on it now is so loud. We humbly put a plea before you to immediately work on the highlighted challenges.

Attached to this letter are signatures of students to register our discontent with the aforementioned conditions lives extremely difficult. We hope you treat our petition with the needed swift response".
