POLITICS TODAY: Analyzing the May Polls, Jude, Benedicta, Derek and Delali’s Victory

NB: This analysis is skewed to the polls conducted by the KNUST TigerEye Media in the month of May.

We've begun a new semester, and we all know this is a political season. And as one of your trusted media houses, we always take it upon ourselves to help candidates know their chances and the student body as a whole know what others think of their favourite candidates as well.

On the 7th of May, 2021, we started an opinion poll on Twitter to know who has a higher chance of winning the upcoming general elections. And the following are the results concerning each position.

For presidency, Jude Sabutey, DSK, Kevin Abban and Michael Abuah were the aspirants on the polls (the rest should pardon us but Twitter allowed just a little space and we selected the top favorable candidates per our discretion not to defame or sideline any candidate).

There was a total votes of 1,466. Kevin Abban had 11.9% of the votes, DSK also got 33.7%, and Jude Sabutey won the poll with 35.6%. Michael Abuah emerges the 3rd with 19% of the votes. Sadly, the last two on our bill combined could not catch up with the second candidate in the person of DSK. A closer look at his makes it known that more work needs to be done. If DSK wants to win he has to do more to solidify his grounds and on the part of Jude sabutey anything can happen, he’s one candidate who was written off but is performing wonders per our poll. To sublime his opponents a little effort to compliment the already existing one should be done to deal with his opponents. The odds per the polls are not in the favor of Michael Abuah so should he step down and concentrate on SCISA? There’s the scenario I will like to throw more light on. The issue of no College president winning the src seat outright. The great Samuel Sesah had to come back to win. KNF lost miserably and the list goes on and on. This university doesn’t favor sitting president’s in this case can Abuah penetrate with his faith? Time will tell. Kevin Abban needs to Vice or his efforts will go in vain. Looking at the masses and the dynamics of the game he needs to act smart and fast else he will lose everything.

I believe to preserve his honor being the SRC Vice President wouldn’t be a bad idea at all than wasting resources and energy to something far away from your reach. Mr Abban should compliment the efforts of another as soon as possible. DSK will be coming into the game with Unity Hall, Jude Sabutey the man with the greater constituencies will be coming with just not one constituency. He will have GESA, Katanga, SCC and the great PENSA all solidly behind him. A little push and he’s done.

Moving on to the General secretary, Benedicta Tiwaa Amankwa, Emmanuella Bessa- Simons, Catherine Osei and Comfort Awuah are your aspirants. Some aspirants have been busy selling their vision others have been busy walking around. Some have been focused on “slaying” and some are riding on the back of the administration. Well I must admit that from where I stand Benedicta seem to be the most favorite to win looking at the polls and also her efforts to compliment this work done. The projects she has done and all. There were a total votes of 1045 in this particular section.

Benedicta took the lead of this poll by getting 28.3% of the votes in her favour.

Emmanuella had 25.7% of the votes, 18.9% of the votes were for Catherine and Comfort also had 27.1% of the votes. It looks like the contest will be between 3 people the last one shouldn’t bother herself. This will be the contest to look for. It will be keenly contested looking at the weight each is carrying but Comfort has really surprised a lot of people with her efforts and results. But she’s only in second year and there’s always another chance.

Solomon Coffie, Derek Andy Dadzie and Nicholas Dapaah are fighting for the SRC Financial Secretary position. There was a total vote cast of 806. Nicholas had 12.5% of the votes, Solomon 25.8% and Derek 61.8%, making him the winner. The candidate with the largest constituency will win.

To conclude today’s data-analysis with WOCOM, we have only two aspirants at the moment. Delali Setugah Forgive and Scholastica Yeboah. This should be a done deal for Delali. It’s her second coming and there’s no doubt she will win. I find it amazing that Scholastica is running though as against a second coming aspirant. Well who knows? Scholastica had 40.5% of the 776 total votes. And Delali won this poll with 59.5% of the votes. There’s no surprise here.

According this polls if we are suppose to vote today, Master Jude Sabutey will be the president, Miss Benedicta Tiwaa Amankwa will be our General secretary, Master Derek Andy Dadzie will be our Financial Secretary and our WOCOM will be Miss Delali Setugah Forgive and if you think there's a better person to fill in any of these positions either than what the polls says, then you have to start pushing now, and if you say yes to this polls too, you don't have to relax. Because politics is like a table and it can turn at anytime. Just push forward, do what you can do best and be YOU.
