A group of visionary Katangees came together and formed a group consisting of elite students who share a common goal to impact KNUST and Ghana as a whole. These students birthed the Katanga Activism Wing to tackle issues that are pressing in our society. As part of this effort, the Wing donated dustbins to the University Hall on 9th July 2021 for recycling purposes as part of the militant excursion in the fight against global warming and climate change.  The donation was done on behalf of the Wing by its president Mr. Osei Derrick Asare and other executives with some members, notable of all Master Jude Sabutey the SRC presidential aspirant in this year's SRC race. The dustbins were received by the University Hall president Mr.Edmund Kwaku Boateng on behalf of the Hall in line with the precepts of positive dynamism and solidarity.  The initiative was applauded and we'll received by the University Hall president and other members of the JCR.

The number one candidate to assume the KNUST SRC General Secretary position after elections Miss Benedicta Tiwaa Amankwah has organized a skills training fare for students of KNUST days after putting up a splendid performance at the SRC vetting despite her health conditions. The leading SRC General  Secretary, Miss Benedicta Tiwaa Amankwah believes the office being vied for narrows down not only to secretarial duties but but there’s more to the office. She then decides to go the extra mile prior to being hopeful to winning. She has organised a skill training activity to inculcate key beneficial skills into ladies of KNUST and it's environs. Over the weekend Miss Tiwaa brought together a number of students under a roof and taught them various skills with fake-up being the dominant skill taught at the fare. She is set to do more! Jude Sabutey has finally been endorsed as the presidential candidate of the most powerful and prestigious Hall, University Hall - Katanga last Friday night. Jude Sabutey, KNUST SRC President Hopeful After series of conversations and events, Jude Sabutey has finally been crowned as the official candidate for Katanga. Jude Sabutey is a third year Biomedical engineering student who completed one of the best schools in the country - Prempeh College and affiliated to Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA). Jude Sabutey  KNUST SRC Presidential aspirant Jude Sabutey has advanced plans to hold an open forum on the state of the KNUST SRC this Thursday on one of the most resounding social media applications — Zoom On a flyer released by the camp of Jude Sabutey, the leading aspirant in the year’s election campaign has affirmed that he will engage the students of KNUST and voice his vision to the community for the electorates to understand the charge he has to keep. The 12th KNUST SRC Parliament has at their first sitting of the 2nd session approved the new UNION OF NON RESIDENTIAL CONSTITUENCIES (UNRC) constitution which sought to clearly demarcate and show boundaries between constituencies. The formation of the UNRC will help solve the many issues of the Non-Residential caucuses as it becomes difficult knowing who does what and who is who. Following this, it has been granted for the creation of new constituencies for this year's electoral process which implies the addition of two new members to parliament. Rt. A second year LLB Student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Lois Maame Efua Fosuah Appeah with Stage Name Lois Mae has released her debut single track titled “Mind Your Own Business” ​Lois started making music and writing lyrics at the age of eight and finally got the chance to come out and show the world what she had to offer in level 200 at the university. When asked What inspired her to write “Mind Your Own Business”, she stated  “It’s a very long story. Let’s just say I was deep in my emotions when I wrote that song. I was deeply hurt by some of my mates in SHS and was also fed up at the same time. Am I permitted to say most tutors are liars? The beauty of university preached to us, isn't the same we came to meet. Has the university system been robbed ? Or we arrived at the wrong time? Or is rather the wrong university we arrived at? We were told there's freedom, but we came to meet stress. Yes! We have our lives but we don't own our time. I wish to wake up at when my eyes says, “it’s now time to see.” But my mind keeps on reminding me of the early morning classes I have. Do I then have the freedom I was promised back then? We were told the learning system in the university is flexible.   Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has supplied nose masks to all college registrars. All KNUST students are to contact their college registrars to receive theirs . Following the recent surge in COVID-19 cases and deaths, President Akufo-Addo ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong Boanuh to strictly enforce the mandatory wearing of nose masks among Ghanaians. This directive applies to students as well, and in view of that, the management of the University has taken it upon itself to supply students and staff with face masks. They are to wear them to avoid contracting the coronavirus and protect themselves as well. This is a mandatory rule that all are required to abide by. Solomon Osei Fosu, an astute candidate together with some members of his campaign team marched to the office of the Dean of students earlier today to present a petition for continuing students to be allowed to register their courses amidst some owing  The novel coronavirus pandemic took the world like a wrath in a second. This has caused great havoc and disrupted many businesses both Local and Abroad. As a result, many parents are finding it difficult to pay both accommodation and tuition fees for their wards this semester. Mister Osei Fosu explained earlier in an interview with the KNUST TigerEye Media Inc. He further stated that some students who are their own bread winners were also affected vehemently, which have contributed to their inability to pay their tuition and hostel fees on time therefore the authorities should consider this predicament and soften stands. Katangees in Serious Action We, the Concerned Katangees (Alumni and Students of University Hall) hereby lift our self- imposed silence on the latest developments regarding the restoration of University Hall (Katanga) to its original status of an “All Male Hall. Our silence for more than a year was in respect of the protocols that the Chancellor of the University, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, had instituted on this matter. Over the past week, it has become obvious that University Management has no respect for these protocols. We have learnt, to our dismay, that the University has begun to assign females again to Katanga for the upcoming academic year. It is therefore important to note that this decision was made without recourse to any of the protocols established by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II or the common courtesy of engaging the relevant stakeholders.
