We are thrilled to announce a significant update that aims to alleviate the financial pressure many of you face, especially during these challenging times. Understanding the importance of education and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to excel, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has revised its payment policy regarding examination eligibility. Effective immediately, the threshold for being allowed to write your end-of-semester exams has been lowered from 70% to 50%. This means that as long as you have paid at least half of your fees, you will be eligible to participate in the upcoming examinations. This decision was made after careful consideration and in response to feedback from our student community. We recognize that our students come from various backgrounds, and this change is part of our commitment to making education at KNUST as accessible as possible.

  The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is still accepting admissions for its undergraduate top-up programs in Engineering and Agriculture for the 2023/2024 academic year. Prospective applicants, both Ghanaian and foreign, are required to purchase e-vouchers to apply for the programs. Ghanaian applicants can obtain the e-vouchers at a cost of GHC 250.00, while foreign applicants can purchase them for USD $150.00. These e-vouchers are available at GCB Bank, CBG, Ecobank branches, or by dialing *447*160# on any network and following the prompts. KNUST BUDGET READING TURNS CHAOTIC  The 16th KNUST SRC Parliamentary budget reading turned chaotic after members objected to the financial secretary’s fundraising and allocations. Sparking tensions among attendees. Members bemoaned low accountability and clarity in how the budget was read. On 3rd March, Mr. Ohenaku Kelvin the KNUST SRC Financial secretary was according to the constitution of the SRC stipulated to appear before the Parliament House and present budget of the 2023/2024 academic year. After reading a 42 page budget, submissions were made on the budget. A dangerous footbridge students use The roads students ply off-campus, especially Ayeduase, home to many students, have long been a source of frustration and danger.  Despite being a key route for students commuting to and from the university, the condition of those roads has continued to deteriorate, with no plans for improvement in sight. The rainy season exacerbates the situation, transforming the roads into a maze of mud and deep potholes. Students are sometimes seen jumping on stones to avoid messing their shoes. During the dry season, the roads are marred by dust and uneven surfaces, making travel uncomfortable and hazardous.   For students off-campus, this means navigating treacherous paths daily, risking their safety and well-being in the process. Adding to the hazards are the open trenches, unsafe bridges and makeshift wooden structures over gutters. The disruption of the internet for the country’s main two network providers these past few weeks have proved fatal for the student body. This has affected studies in many forms as students rely heavily on online services. The big boys in the telecom industry including MTN and Vodafone now Telecel having had their subsea cables disrupted have affected multiple countries spamming from the west to the south of Africa. These countries include Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, and South Africa. This has had negative impact on most industries relying heavily on integrated services from these telcos.  One of these industries being the Fintech sector which accounts for most food services and deliveries in and around the campuses of the tertiary institutions.   The end of semester exams approaches, students across the university are hitting the books and gearing up for the upcoming examinations.  Libraries are bustling, study groups are in full swing, and the atmosphere is charged with a sense of urgency and determination. However, amidst the diligent preparation of the majority, there's a notable contrast with a subset of students who seem unfazed by the looming exams. These students, colloquially known as the ' last-minute association' , appear to be taking a more relaxed approach to their studies, with little sign of the impending exams on their radar. A second year KNUST student has been spotted motionless on Friday, February 17th 2023 at Ultimate Hostel (formerly Evandy hostel) in a video circulating with different back stories.  It is alleged that he fell from the fourth floor of the annex block after attempting to jump from one balcony to the other. A statement received from a witness states that, "They were reported for smoking which led the Police to  secure a spare key from the hostel Potter to unlock the door when they got the news. In their quest to escape nuisance, they tried to jump from their balcony to the next which was a successful attempt for the room owner but the victim who's a visitor unluckily slipped and fell". Another statement from an eye witness states that "they were smoking and someone went to report them....so the security men came knock at their door...and he was trying to escape from his balcony to the next balcony and his hand slipped causing his death".   CampRide Bus The KNUST SRC President Master Frank Owusu on Monday 13th February confirmed through a tweet that his administration has negotiated for private shuttles to augment the services provided by the Campride. Over the years, transportation on and off campus have been a major challenge for students. Students would have to go through hell before moving from one point to another. The situation has become worse now especially when the university increases freshmen intake year in year out. One would have to join a long queue in order to join a shuttle that is even overcrowded which is not condusive for students.  Students are mostly late or even absent from classes because of transport challenges. Tracy Antwiwaa Darfuor Dr. James Osei, the chairman for the Union of Non-Residential Constituencies has been served with a petition for the provision of a pharmacy facility at GAZA for students who reside in that vicinity  Students who reside at GAZA - Anglican Hostel, Suncity, Georgia, Wilkado, Banivillas and a host of others are occasionally forced to visit the Kentinkrono township or Ayeduase newsite to get a pharmacy to fulfil their medical needs. Miss Tracy Antwiwaa Darfuor Miss Tracy Antwiwaa Darfuor a student from the department of Sociology and Social Work has through a letter to the Vice Chancellor requested for an extension of the school shuttle working hours. In a letter dated 18th August 2022, Miss Tracy Antwiwaa Darfuor passionately appealed to the University management through the office of the Vice Chancellor to consider and renegotiate the working hours of the university shuttles which commute students to and fro the campus during lecture periods. In the letter, she recognized that the academic calendar for the year has been seen to be a but different from the norm as such forcing lecture hours to be extended in order for the days activities to be fulfilled. Mavis Abangremah Akolbila who topped the SRC vetting for the WOCOM section has released her health policy and it's more centered on breast cancer.  The incidence of breast cancer in Ghanaian women is about 76 per 1000 women.  Higher than most part of our continent and even the world despite the continual effort made by several governments to remedy this situation. Mavis has laid out her views on why this situation is so and has also suggested how she will make sure she aids in this fight against breast cancer in Ghana starting with females in KNUST.  She promises to organize free breast screening and examination every single month for the females. Some of them are just amazing and stunning.  This year's SRC Financial Secretary aspirant and immediate past University Hall Financial Secretary drops his 6th policy and it's already a discussion topic for students all over. He seeks to introduce a navigation feature on the AIM APP and the SRC website to help students track movement of shuttles at any given time.  This initiative will also be open to all students to design this feature and the best feature will be selected and the designer being awarded.  This will boost the entrepreneurial state of the student populace and make our lives comfortable as well.   An aspirant for this year’s SRC Financial secretary , JOMO KENYATTA earlier today released his first policy dubbed ‘CONTINUATION AND RENOVATION OF THE SRC FINANCIAL LITERACY SUMMIT’.  The work of the Financial Secretary is a broad one, one that encompasses  a whole broad of spectrum. The SRC Financial literacy summit is an educational program that seeks to educates the the various financial secretaries under the SRC to gain knowledge in the financial dealings such as investment and budget preparation. Kwame Frimpong , a Queens Hall Presidential Aspirant has won another case in court today following the Resignation suit  raised against him by MR Obuobi EmmanuelAwuah . A petition that was  filed again on July 30,2022  by Mr.Obuobi Emmanuel Appeadu Awuah who’s a First year Business Administration student in Queens hall advocating and  Restraining Presidential aspirant Kwame Frimpong of Queens Hall from contesting in the upcoming elections has been rejected.  He was thrown out today in a court sitting based on issues of procedural impropriety and as such was deemed to lack merits. The case against master Kwame Frimpong filed for the second time to disqualify him from contesting in the upcoming election was dismissed earlier today. That not alone, the court ordered master Obuobi Emmanuel to compensate Kwame Frimpong with an amount of 300 cedis for wasting his time on a case that had no merit. .
