KNUST SRC to launch its 60th Anniversary at Kumapley Auditorium this Saturday

The much awaited launch will take place at the Kumapley Auditorium (GESA Auditorium) on Saturday the 13th day of March exactly 10am. Speaking on Community Watch on Tuesday evening hosted by Raheem Awaafo, the KNUST SRC Financial Secretary Osei Fosu Solomon gave out details of the anniversary celebrations.

He stated that the SRC is on course to making the event a memorable one as they have invited most of the past KNUST SRC Presidents making mention of notable ones such as Boakye Nyamekye Isaac (BNI), Samuel Amoako Kusi (SAK), Kelvin Sah (noted for the famous 22nd September 2018) and many others. He also promised the presence of many dignitaries such as past Vice Chancellors of the university.

The KNUST SRC however has invited all students and urged all students to adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols.

Neglected Roads, Neglected Students: The Perilous Journey of KNUST Students Off-Campus

A dangerous footbridge students use The roads students ply off-campus, especially Ayeduase, home to many students, have long been a source of frustration and danger.  Despite being a key route for students commuting to and from the university, the condition of those roads has continued to deteriorate, with no plans for improvement in sight. The rainy season exacerbates the situation, transforming the roads into a maze of mud and deep potholes. Students are sometimes seen jumping on stones to avoid messing their shoes. During the dry season, the roads are marred by dust and uneven surfaces, making travel uncomfortable and hazardous.   For students off-campus, this means navigating treacherous paths daily, risking their safety and well-being in the process. Adding to the hazards are the open trenches, unsafe bridges and makeshift wooden structures over gutters. The hilly and rocky terrain further complicates the commute, requiring students to maneuver through challenging landscapes.  As

KNUST BUDGET READING TURNS CHAOTIC  The 16th KNUST SRC Parliamentary budget reading turned chaotic after members objected to the financial secretary’s fundraising and allocations. Sparking tensions among attendees. Members bemoaned low accountability and clarity in how the budget was read. On 3rd March, Mr. Ohenaku Kelvin the KNUST SRC Financial secretary was according to the constitution of the SRC stipulated to appear before the Parliament House and present budget of the 2023/2024 academic year. After reading a 42 page budget, submissions were made on the budget. According to eye witnesses, the chaos started when the speaker of Parliament gave mandate to only caucus heads to give their submissions.
