SRC EC finally Speaks; Gives Update on the Elections

The KNUST SRC Electoral Commissioner Master Philip Ofori-Atta has broke the silence after issuing an emotional response to why he has been silent over the controversy that surround this year’s SRC elections which was disrupted by the Nobel coronavirus. In his Speech, he gave details as to what transpired all this while and the decision taken so far and ended buy thanking all and sundry for their support to him during his tenure. The SRC election was supposed to come off on 26th of March, 2020. However, it couldn't happen because of Covid-19 and the fact that the university was shut down and students were sent home. In the electoral commission quest to organize an election that is free, fair, transparent and represented the views of the whole students populace during this period, the Commission met with all the necessary stakeholders (including the SRC Candidate) and put before then two options we can use to organize an election.

The following were the options:
1. Delegate Election
2. Online Voting

It turned out that the disadvantages outweighed he advantages.
In view of this, the idea of an Interim Students' Representative (ISRC) Committee was brought on board to steer the affairs of students representation until a proper election is organize by an Interim Electoral Commission 14 or 21 days after school resumption. This is in line with the ISRC Act signed by the SRC President.
