SCISA Prepares towards Opening of Nominations; Some Departments to Vote Separately

The Electoral Commissioner for the Science Students Association (SCISA) Master Elton George Frimpong Boadu has announced that nominations would be open soon detailing all portfolios which will be made available when he opens nominations through a communique his office has released.

In the communique he made public all the portfolios that will be voted upon from department to the College level. He however stated that there has been some changes in the voting pattern as some associations have fused and others have separated. Students from the department of Statistics and Mathematics should note that there will be a SEPARATE election for them instead of a joint association election. Thus each association will elect its executives therefore potential aspirants should target electorates from only their Associations.




Biological Science and Environmental Science students will also be affected by the separate elections as their joint associations have been SPLIT. Aspirants are to target only members from their individual associations but not the joint association anymore. The Statistics students association has now been COMBINED with Acturial Science students making them one Department but two separate member Associations. Potential aspirants have been advised to target these two departments

Neglected Roads, Neglected Students: The Perilous Journey of KNUST Students Off-Campus

A dangerous footbridge students use The roads students ply off-campus, especially Ayeduase, home to many students, have long been a source of frustration and danger.  Despite being a key route for students commuting to and from the university, the condition of those roads has continued to deteriorate, with no plans for improvement in sight. The rainy season exacerbates the situation, transforming the roads into a maze of mud and deep potholes. Students are sometimes seen jumping on stones to avoid messing their shoes. During the dry season, the roads are marred by dust and uneven surfaces, making travel uncomfortable and hazardous.   For students off-campus, this means navigating treacherous paths daily, risking their safety and well-being in the process. Adding to the hazards are the open trenches, unsafe bridges and makeshift wooden structures over gutters. KNUST BUDGET READING TURNS CHAOTIC  The 16th KNUST SRC Parliamentary budget reading turned chaotic after members objected to the financial secretary’s fundraising and allocations. Sparking tensions among attendees. Members bemoaned low accountability and clarity in how the budget was read. On 3rd March, Mr. Ohenaku Kelvin the KNUST SRC Financial secretary was according to the constitution of the SRC stipulated to appear before the Parliament House and present budget of the 2023/2024 academic year. After reading a 42 page budget, submissions were made on the budget. According to eye witnesses, the chaos started when the speaker of Parliament gave mandate to only caucus heads to give their submissions.
