KNUST Decides: KNUST SRC EC meets Stakeholders; all Elections Slated for February-March

The KNUST SRC Electoral Commission Chairperson, Master Philip Ofori-Atta has met with all stakeholders of KNUST SRC Elections to discuss the elections and how it will be carried out, most importantly the electoral timetable for this year’s election.

On Thursday the 23rd of January 2020 the KNUST Electoral Commission led by Master Philip Ofori-Atta together with his able deputies met various stakeholders - the Dean of Students Prof Wilson Agyare, his Vice Dr. Otchere Addai Mensah, the University Information Technology Service (UITS), Head of KNUST Security, the University Relations Officer (URO), All College Electoral Commissioners, Hall Electoral Commissioners, representatives from KATH, representatives from the International Students Association (ISA) to deliberate and finalize on the 2020 election timetable and at the Dean of  Students’ board room.

The UITS implored all EC's to set up their polling Centers latest by 7:30am on Election Day to avoid inconveniences. They are to submit all profiles of candidate’s in 3 working days prior to the day.
The SRC EC Master Philip Ofori-Atta added some few changes that have been made with regards to the time frame in this year’s elections as compared to previous elections held. He confirmed that w elections will be held between the month of February and March. The EC professed that elections will start 9:00am and end 5:00pm with no extension in time.

The Dean of Students as well hammered on the fact that representatives for candidates in the strong room will sign an undertaken to not go out till the end of the election, with the exception of attending to nature’s call. The Head of Security added that metal detectors will be used to check students going to the strong room for security purposes in order to prevent outbursts of election data. As a usual norm, students are not expected to campaign on the day of election. The EC further entreated that students will have to be patient as the timetable for the 2020 elections will be released in no time.
