Julia Bailey eyes HESA General Secretary Position in the 2020 HESA Polls

Second year Julia Bailey Ameyaw Baah reading Bachelor of Science in Human Biology (Dentistry) has declared her interest in the Health Science Students Association(HESA) General Secretary Position in this years Polls scheduled for February.

Speaking with the KNUST TigerEye Media Inc. she stated that she has a vision for HESA. She wants to make the office of the general secretary dynamic in terms of presentation of information and it’s dissemination and proactive in terms of communication.

She stated that the current administration has worked in ensuring that the communication gap between the students and the administration is bridged and she intends to improving on that. Miss Julia Bailey want to make the office a renowned front when it comes to encouraging the involvement of students in the association's activities.

She completed Wesley Girls High School, Cape Coast. She was the General Secretary for Wesley Girls High School’s Civic Education Club. And she was a shortlisted Participant in HESA Duaya Challenge. She’s currently the Deputy PRO for HESA - KNUST. Doubles as the PRO for Standing Committee On Human Rights And Peace, KNUST. She happens to be a writer at Ink Up and also the Head Of Recruitment- KNUST Medical Students Association Preclinical Lounge. On top of it all, she’s the Publicity head for Women In Medicine and Surgery Symposium 2020.

Neglected Roads, Neglected Students: The Perilous Journey of KNUST Students Off-Campus

A dangerous footbridge students use The roads students ply off-campus, especially Ayeduase, home to many students, have long been a source of frustration and danger.  Despite being a key route for students commuting to and from the university, the condition of those roads has continued to deteriorate, with no plans for improvement in sight. The rainy season exacerbates the situation, transforming the roads into a maze of mud and deep potholes. Students are sometimes seen jumping on stones to avoid messing their shoes. During the dry season, the roads are marred by dust and uneven surfaces, making travel uncomfortable and hazardous.   For students off-campus, this means navigating treacherous paths daily, risking their safety and well-being in the process. Adding to the hazards are the open trenches, unsafe bridges and makeshift wooden structures over gutters. The hilly and rocky terrain further complicates the commute, requiring students to maneuver through challenging landscapes.  As

KNUST BUDGET READING TURNS CHAOTIC  The 16th KNUST SRC Parliamentary budget reading turned chaotic after members objected to the financial secretary’s fundraising and allocations. Sparking tensions among attendees. Members bemoaned low accountability and clarity in how the budget was read. On 3rd March, Mr. Ohenaku Kelvin the KNUST SRC Financial secretary was according to the constitution of the SRC stipulated to appear before the Parliament House and present budget of the 2023/2024 academic year. After reading a 42 page budget, submissions were made on the budget. According to eye witnesses, the chaos started when the speaker of Parliament gave mandate to only caucus heads to give their submissions.
