NUGS KNUST Local Set For An Outreach Tomorrow At Afua Kobi High School

The Executives of the National Union of Ghanaian Students - KNUST Local are fully prepared to embark on an outreach program at the Afua Kobi Senior High School early Saturday, 23rd November.

The focus of the program has been broadened to considerably include students who want to complete their high school program successfully thus students in the secondary education cycle. Also, it captures students who have been unsuccessful in senior high school or have dropped out as well as students involved with drugs, criminal activity and
sexual abuse. Any student who has discipline problems including those facing mental or physical health issues such as anxiety, depression or other medical problems among others.

The outreach’s target participants are expected to be younger students in the Secondary educational cycle. The local NUGS Executive Council and some students will visit AFUA KOBI SHS at “Trabuom” in the Ashanti Region.

The KNUST TigerEye Media Inc. understand that the program will be in two sessions, there will be an Informal session and a formal session. The informal session will give students the opportunity to build their capacities through innovative schemes like how to prepare yoghurt, beads, “sobolo”, carpentry and how to cook. The Formal session will see the invited dignitaries speak to the students.

HISTORY
The National Union of Ghana students (NUGS) is an embodiment of the democratic strength of Ghanaian students and the mother body of all student associations in the country. It is charged with the responsibility of promoting unity among Ghanaian students and championing the welfare of Ghanaian youth in general without prejudice to any cause.
NUGS-KNUST is the official representative body of all students on national issues on KNUST campus. It is a progressive mass movement of Ghanaian students that is non-political, non-partisan and non-religious. It is the representative of the NUGS National Secretariat here in KNUST, serving as a liaison between the Students Representative Council (SRC) and the National secretariat. Since its establishment, it has and continues to champion the course of students, defending them in the collective interest of all.

The maiden edition of the NUGS KNUST outreach was spearheaded by the 2017 administration of NUGS KNUST. It is a marquee event for NUGS – KNUST for the 2019/2020 academic year
