NASPA EXECUTIVES  The Ashanti Regional NASPA President Owusu-Agyemang Aephaniel has commissioned a newly built fence wall financed by the association and other donors under the supervision of the Kumasi Metro director Over the years the National Service Scheme (NSS) office, Ashanti region secretariat to be precise have being facing security problems. This has lead to several advises being given by security agents to build a fence wall to protect machinations and other valuables in the building. This safety precautionary measure has been ignored until it was made known to the newly elected National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) executives. They took it upon themselves to build the wall, to help protect their leaders. The executives according to reports discussed the project with the regional director Mr. Alex Opoku Mensah, who gave them his full support. Are we even considered a part of this University?? There’s a notion that we’ve not been matriculated thus not worthy to be considered students of this University to begin with.    Our eligibility to vote became one that had to be plunged into a legal tussle and the verdict of the court was one that put the final nail in the coffin.  It took the intervention of the Dean of Students for us to be considered in the upcoming SRC elections. We were deemed students enough when they took 115 Ghana cedis from each of the almost 30,000 Students who got admitted into this noble institution as SRC levies but not students enough to have a say in who leads us and who we place at the helm of affairs to decide what happens with our dues and make decisions on our behalf.     Despite the Dean of Students intervention, we can tell there has been no serious commitment from the office of the Electoral Commissioner to the first years as to the proper conduct of elections; what to do ...

Delali Setugah Forgive The most projected candidate to win the KNUST SRC Women’s Commission race Miss Delali Setugah Forgive has publicly stated that should she be elected, she will set up “The Aketesia Fund” to compliment the KBN Fund. In her manifesto speech which she aired live on Focus Fm this Sunday, Miss Setugah stated that:, “The KBN and Bursary over the years have been of tremendous help to students and this cannot be underestimated but rather improved upon. My little and yet detailed research has equipped me with information that only about 15% of female students benefit from them. This is partly due to the overwhelming formalities and scrutinizing and also partly due to lack of knowledge about them. The Aketesia fund will be established to compliment the KBN and Bursary and will be made for female students with zero stress and frustration in accessibility.” She ended her speech urging students to vote for her as she has better plans for all.

ELECTION MEETING Not long ago, the Interim Electoral Commission Chairman made a proclamation that first year students would not be permitted to vote in the up coming KNUST SRC Elections but that decision has been challenged in the SRC Court Andrew Anokye Kyeremateng the interim EC for the student front in an interview with Focus FM’s John Essien aver that freshmen will not vote in the upcoming SRC Elections. Expectations have been rising as the interim electoral committee and the interim legal affairs commissioner have now both been dragged to court to face Master Clinton Deborah later today Saturday, 23rd January, 2021 exactly 7:30pm at the Law Faculty. It is expected that at the end of the court proceedings freshmen being included or excluded in the upcoming SRC elections will be resolved at the hearing.   Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has supplied nose masks to all college registrars. All KNUST students are to contact their college registrars to receive theirs . Following the recent surge in COVID-19 cases and deaths, President Akufo-Addo ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong Boanuh to strictly enforce the mandatory wearing of nose masks among Ghanaians. This directive applies to students as well, and in view of that, the management of the University has taken it upon itself to supply students and staff with face masks. They are to wear them to avoid contracting the coronavirus and protect themselves as well. This is a mandatory rule that all are required to abide by.
