AngloGold Ashanti Ghana (AGAG) has supported Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)-Obuasi campus with an amount of Six Hundred Thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 600,000.00). The donation which was made on Thursday the 3rd December 2020 is aimed at supporting the University to carry out expansion and renovation works on some existing structures to accommodate the expected intake of fresh students for 2020/2021 academic year. Presenting the cheque, the Managing Director of AGAG, Mr. Eric Asubonteng, reiterated the commitment of AngloGold Ashanti Ghana towards education which he said is featured prominently in the Social Management Plan of AGAG. He stressed that the Management of AGAG is aware of the KNUST’s plans to increase the enrolment of the campus this year and to help grow the University to the standard expected. Mr Winfred Awadzi The sports directorate of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) has lost one of its most loyal servants, Mr Winfred Awadzi to death, our outfit can confirm. Mr Winfred Awadzi, who has worked at KNUST for close to thirty (30) years was confirmed dead in the late hours of Monday night after a short illness. Affectionately known as ‘Dr Awara’ owing to his exceptional discharge of multiple duties as the masseur of the sports team, he also performed roles as an unofficial physical trainer for the athletes during GUSA organized competitions. Coach Awara, who was due to go on pension next year was also in charge of stores and all other sports equipment at the KNUST’s sports directorate including the famous Paa Joe Sports Stadium. According to sources within the family, Coach Awara complained of a heart problem and died shorty after being rushed to TECH Hospital late on Monday night. The Single Page letter read that, the Event was canceled as a result of the closure of campuses due to the COVID-19 outbreak as well management's decision not to resort to a virtual event. A fourth year student of Dr. of Pharmacy of the the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been reportedly confirmed dead, confirming his name as Master Henry Onuchukwu through an official communique from the KNUST International Students Association [KSA ]; has left several friends and family members of  the deceased in mystery. Master Henry Onuchukwu as purported by sections of the students populace is the Second International student from Nigeria to have passed on after a lady died few weeks ago. George and Angelina Owusu Foundation (GAF), an NGO has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology at the Council Chamber on 23rd November, 2020.The MoU will help to train high calibre of health professionals. GAF is an NGO with the vision to impact lives in Ghana through healthcare initiatives, primary and elementary and economic development.  The GAF with the requisite facilities for training, service and research would allow personnel from KNUST to undertake clinical training at its facility and offer service provision to patients.
