College Of Engineering Holds An Orientation Programme For Its New Faculty Members

The College of Engineering, KNUST, Kumasi has organised a day's induction ceremony for it's newly employed members of staff. The aim of the ceremony as per custom is to educate members on lectures and examination issues, developing careers in academics, and the nitty gritty of the University as an administrative system. Other discussions made included; social issues affecting new lecturers, researchers and administrative tips on beginning with a good note. Professor Mark Adom-Asamoah, Provost, College of Engineering Prof. Mark Adom-Asamoah, the provost of the college in his overview stated that, the induction ceremony was put together to enable the new fellows settle down quickly and get acclimatise into the University System. Stanbic Bank Ghana Supports KNUST’s SONSOL Project.

In line with the Vice-Chancellor’s vision to support one needy student with one laptop dubbed ‘SONSOL PROJECT’, Stanbic Bank Ghana has responded to the Vice–Chancellor’s call to support the project by making an initial donation of 50 brand new laptop computers at a total cost of two hundred thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵200,000) for the 2020/21 academic year. The donation was made when the Stanbic Bank Ghana team paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rita Akosua Dickson on 11th November, 2020. Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu, Head, Marketing and Communications Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu, Head of Marketing and Communications further gave an assurance on the bank’s resolve to provide 50 laptops annually over a period of 4-years bringing the total sponsorship package to eight hundred thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵800,000). Female Professor of KNUST Named Among Top Global Scientists.

Female Scientist, Professor Marian Asantewah Nkansah of the Department of Chemistry, KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana has been named among the top 10 scientists in Africa. She was also named among the top 60 scientists around the world in the 2020 Analytical Scientists Power List. The Analytical Scientists Power List acknowledges scientists around the globe who propagate unique stories. It also focuses on people, technology and innovations, by shaping the measurement of science. It covers analytical science by telling stories- delving into the hopes, fears, motivations and aspirations of key figures in the field. Analytical science likewise encourages cross-pollination of ideas through an accessible and solutions-based approach.  Prof. Marian Asantewah Nkansah is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry of KNUST. KNUST Professor Launches Ghana’s First Architectural Glossary

A distinguished Professor of Architecture at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has launched Ghana’s very first glossary on architecture on Friday November 6, 2020 at the IDL Conference Centre, KNUST-Kumasi.  Professor Rexford Assasie Oppong, Dean of International Programmes Office (IPO-KNUST) explained that, the book titled; “Aalii to Zygomorphic”- A Handbook on Architectural Glossary, was composed in alphabetical order “A to Z”, to illustrate architectural terminologies in a form of a glossary or dictionary dedicated to Architecture. Popular KNUST SRC presidential aspirant, Master Bonney Rexford Joseph AKA B4BONNEY has publicly validated his support for the New Patriotic Party Presidential candidate in his quest of seeking re-election in the not too distant December Polls. The Young Technokrat stated emphatically on his official twitter page that for those who could have never woke up to a dream of experiencing the secondary school education but now has it at their doorstep, he thinks is a tremendous achievement hence H.E Akufo-Addo should be given four more to do more.
