ABBAN picks MOHAMMED ALI as Running mate for KNUST SRC PRESIDENCY

KNUST SRC Aspirant Kevin Abban has chosen Mohammed Ali (Immediate Past Vice President) of the Faculty of Social Sciences to be his running mate, turning to a leading authority on the Voice for you agenda and making him the only Muslim person on the SRC presidential ticket.

Mohammed Ali, who earlier on was Kevin Abban’s  opponent for the SRC President race, brings the political prowess of winning this year SRC election in KNUST while also personifying the diversity for all students.

Abban’s selection ended a long search that was conducted almost entirely in secret. It reflected a critical strategic choice by Kevin Abban to pick a running mate who shares the vision of becoming the voice for students in KNUST.

Mohammed Ali is a Muslim, giving him appeal to that important voting bloc. He is an old student of Tamale Senior High School where he served as the Executive Board Chairman 2017/2018 General Arts Students' Association, TAMASCO.

Mohammed Ali has dedicated his entire life to supporting the most important asset of any organization: its’ people and hence wants to support the VOICE FOR YOU AGENDA.

Ali is excited to join TEAM KEVIN ABBAN and help address the transformative potential of our SRC and champion the interest of the students. Ali’s leadership experiences will help make the dreams and aspirations of KEVIN ABBAN a reality.

Neglected Roads, Neglected Students: The Perilous Journey of KNUST Students Off-Campus

A dangerous footbridge students use The roads students ply off-campus, especially Ayeduase, home to many students, have long been a source of frustration and danger.  Despite being a key route for students commuting to and from the university, the condition of those roads has continued to deteriorate, with no plans for improvement in sight. The rainy season exacerbates the situation, transforming the roads into a maze of mud and deep potholes. Students are sometimes seen jumping on stones to avoid messing their shoes. During the dry season, the roads are marred by dust and uneven surfaces, making travel uncomfortable and hazardous.   For students off-campus, this means navigating treacherous paths daily, risking their safety and well-being in the process. Adding to the hazards are the open trenches, unsafe bridges and makeshift wooden structures over gutters. KNUST BUDGET READING TURNS CHAOTIC  The 16th KNUST SRC Parliamentary budget reading turned chaotic after members objected to the financial secretary’s fundraising and allocations. Sparking tensions among attendees. Members bemoaned low accountability and clarity in how the budget was read. On 3rd March, Mr. Ohenaku Kelvin the KNUST SRC Financial secretary was according to the constitution of the SRC stipulated to appear before the Parliament House and present budget of the 2023/2024 academic year. After reading a 42 page budget, submissions were made on the budget. According to eye witnesses, the chaos started when the speaker of Parliament gave mandate to only caucus heads to give their submissions.
