Frank Toko CANaRSA Presidential aspirant Requests for Signatories to his petition on Shortage of Chairs

Master Frank Toko a 2020 CANaRSA Presidential aspirant has issued a petition over the shortage of chairs at the College which has been a paramount issue yet to be solved by the current administration. He however calls on students of the College to append their signature to his petition for the issue to be addressed. Below is his full article on the petition

SHORTAGE OF CHAIRS IN THE COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE & NATURAL RESOURCES.

Over the past few years, the college building known by all as NCB situated at the Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources has provided well and comforting serene for studies and the building has facilitated easy teaching & learning for students. The speakers used in the building are clear and loud unlike some other buildings and there is enough room for everyone.

The college administration and past students association executive committee have also contributed to make it easy for access to what is being shared on the main screen by providing a number of LCD Televisions to get the projected materials closer to the students without straining or stressing.

There is but one problem that is becoming a normality in the college and this is the number of chairs at the NCB. The NCB has 4 floors as it is a 3-storey building, and the building is used by all departments in the college of agriculture & natural resources. Recent developments over the past three semesters have pointed out the fact that the chairs at the college building are inadequate, thus, students have to borrow other chairs from other classes if necessary.

The problem seems to be affecting BSc. Agriculture a lot in the college as they have the highest number of students in each class. This problem has led to the disruption of certain classes and also students losing focus in what they are studying.  Students would have to be standing for quite some time if not permitted or do not get access to chairs. As others stand, they block the view of others and thus, they do not follow the class, thereby missing out.

Also, looking at the Animal Science department which is situated on the Mango Road, KNUST, the chairs there are not enough for first, second and third years who come around for lectures and there are no public address systems to enhance effective communication to those who cannot sit with their peers outside.

I, Frank Toko, a third year Natural Resources Management student would like to propose that more chairs will be procured by the college administration - management and students association committee for the animal science building and also for the college building; NCB.

This will minimize or end the disruption of classes by students, this will increase the level of concentration of the class outside and also make teaching and learning easier & comfortable.
