Students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology - KNUST took to social media to slam a “poor” decision taken by the representatives of the member associations who make up the SRC parliamentary council earlier today. The concerned students described the decision of the Parliamentarians as “autocratic and sham”. Their concern was that the decision the Parliamentarians have taken was one of the key issues that there was an unrest here on campus a year ago. They believe there was no need for the Parliamentarians to give assent to that Bill. The Bill implores that the freedom of the member associations thus the traditional Halls, various Colleges and Non-are caucus to have their annual week celebrations on any day of their choosing has been curtailed. All Hall and Colleges week celebrations will happen in a week simultaneously.

This has left some students to haul insults at the Parliamentarians. However, information some gathered on the ground indicated that some Parliamentarians have bobbled up saying they were forced to pass the Bill. Some students are also accusing the 11th Speaker for the KNUST SRC Parliament of bullying the parliament into passing the Bill since he has no voting right. Others also feel the speaker should be left out of the issue since it’s the Parliamentarians who actually passed what they deem “unnecessary and uncalled for” Act.

This and more coming up, stay tuned......
