Second Suit on SADR Dropped; SRC Speaker Exonerated

The Judicial Chairperson of the KNUST SRC His Lordship Michael Gyan quashed a second petition against the SRC Speaker of Parliament, The Parliamentary Council and the Legal Affairs Commission.

The SRC Speaker was sued over breeches in the processes that ensured the passing of the Student Association Dues Rate Act 2019 (SADR 2019). After a preliminary hearing by the Judicial Chairperson, he ruled that the case brought before him is the same case which was brought before the court some weeks ago and a verdict has been published to that effect. He therefore declined the case. The Speaker of Parliament together with the Parliamentary Council and the Legal Affairs Commission are thereby exonerated of all charges.

  1. The Speaker in conducting his mandated responsibilities have been treated unfairly considering the good faith and his competence. It is refreshing the case has been quashed. Good work by the JC for not entertaing useless claims.
