Master Philip Ofori-Atta made is known at the Electoral Training which happened some days ago that the various Electoral commissioners will only have the power to recommend and not-recommend a candidate after the screening processes have been done. Thus the power the Electoral commissioners used to enjoy thereby disqualifying candidates on grounds of them not meeting the pass mark after vetting has been taken away from them in the new electoral reforms.

However, this does not rule out the fact that candidates can not be disqualified from contesting. When candidates do not meet the legal requirements as stipulated by their various member associations constitution or breech any electoral regulation they will be subject to disqualification and it will be a fair disqualification on a ground other than vetting results.
