LAST MINUTE 'APOR'

Isaac Bawuah
It is particularly frustrating to be writing in a time of the semester when hardly anyone reads anything that is not lecture notes or slides to pass Mid-semester exams. “Last minutefo) Ayekoo."

I don't write on campus politics and Student leadership of late, not because I hate politics now (quite the opposite). I hardly get time to write because  of time factor. From personal observations, I do realise not  many can have a decent conversation on campus  politics, disagree on views and stay friends afterwards. I'll find time to talk about my good friend ABC and his SRC, but today let's take 'Apor' for the Mid-semester. It's important to note that you can't do me “foko” if you get none.

As we prepare for the Mid-semester, let's take note of these things: To colleagues who deliberately make life unbearable for their roommates, please have mercy on them and bring it down to a notch. At least spare the person this mid-sem exams period. Everyone's someone's ward, someone's precious Prince and Princess. Not everyone comes from a well-to-do home, but everyone is worth respecting.

Please, I know some guys have been “using” some ladies by heart. It's common knowledge to all of us the spectators that this guy is not going to be your husband. Both of you know the relationship is temporal and not everlasting, yet this young guy 'opens fire' every week. It will soon end in tears! Well, that's not my problem though. I just want to tell you to have time for this Mid-semester papers because there's time for everything.

To the level 100 students,  I guess the university campus has been an exciting experience for you. So far so good. Some of you, so soon, have had the chance to enjoy full-scale freedom in every possible way, grabbed  every opportunity to test the waters, tasted every candy in a 'trouser'. You have experienced whatever campus life has to offer for you. I want to remind you this; in some years past whiles struggling to pass WASSCE, you promised yourselve that you'll be great someday. Don't disappoint yourself.

Someone hasn't attended lectures since the semester started, you will  never see them near a library, yet, they too, want to pass exams. Well, maybe they have a photographic memory. Just let it not end in tears though.

Some students, however, are extremely intelligent, but they never make their knowledge useful to anybody in the classroom. These guys are unique but not useful. Some of you, after school, will never meet the people you see today again or at least for quite some time. So if there's any life you know you can impact, the time is now!

Just because you are a studious person doesn't mean education starts and ends with you. It doesn't mean you should keep your room untidy because you are so much  fixated on studies, and for that matter you have no time for other equally important things. Don't make the exams look so stressful. And just because there is examination does not mean you should dress like you are the only one with examination. Read, slay and murder that paper. That's the beauty of education. Make sure you look your best during exams period. You have to look attractive to the paper. The 'wahala' is when you get hooked somewhere on the paper. Attractively dumb for that moment. Haha!

Finally, the years are passing us by, and we are not getting any younger. Sooner than later, it would be our turn to take over the wheels of management; not just over our personal lives, but over the affairs of the state and its agencies. How many of us are actually looking forward to that after all the paper exams?
